This week marks one year since Summit Salon Academy – Gainesville temporarily closed its doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was one of the most difficult decisions to make at the time; not only as an educational entity but also as a prominent place of business in the Gainesville area. During our two-month hiatus, our staff, students, and guests were introduced to a new reality of life. We were all required to wear masks everywhere we went and had to practice social distancing. Regardless, we pushed forward by following all local, state, and federal guidelines to ensure a safe return.
When we reopened our school at the end of May, we thoroughly cleaned our institution, provided masks and face shields to all staff and students, required temperature checks for all who entered our facility, and kept track of all COVID-19 cases affecting our staff and student body. It was a new protocol for everyone but we were all focused on one thing: safety. With each passing day and week, teamwork was essential to maintain stability for all.
As we headed into the late summer and autumn, we saw a major jump in enrollments and guest attendance. By following protocol, we ensured a successful return. We also want to acknowledge the tremendous support we received from our community. Our clients were a major factor in our successful return and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your time and dedication in visiting our institution. Despite 2020 being one of the most difficult years of our lifetimes, we managed to pull through and positively head into the new year.
Looking beyond, Summit Salon Academy – Gainesville will continue to evolve based on the needs of the industry. We look forward to helping future students accomplish their career goals in cosmetology!
