National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) is an indepedent and autonomous accrediting commission located in Alexandria, Virginia. It is recognized by the US Department of Education as a national agency for the institutional accreditation of postsecondary schools and departments of cosmetology arts and sciences, including specialized schools. It presently accredits approximately 1,600 institutions that serve over 120,000 students.

You have never seen anything like LAB before. It’s easy to use and contains all the features necessary to capture your attention, inspire creativity and allow you to share your experiences with your peers. Summit Salon Academy – Gainesville is the only cosmetology academy in the area to offer the Pivot Point LAB learning platform!
Fundamentals: The Fundamentals portion of the curriculum helps students learn what they need to know without having to dive into deep text. Using modules with lesson plans and interactive activities, the learning experience is instantly enhanced while providing streamlined text for easier studying and memory retention.
LAB: The Learn About Beauty (LAB) Platform uses technology to connect students with the beauty industry. It is available 24/7, providing the student a more convenient approach to traditional studying. As an interactive platform, LAB provides fun, learning activities and a platform to connect with classmates and educators. Cosmetology education has evolved with Pivot Point!
Program Description
The 600-hour Full Specialist Program at Summit Salon Academy – Gainesville includes theory and practical instruction that prepares the student to perform Nail Services and Skin Care services on the public. Training two types of learning, the theoretical knowledge, and the practical experience to build the skills needed to be successful in the profession. The course is taught in the English language using a variety of current educational instructional techniques including lecture, demonstration, visual aids, textbook review, practice on live models (under the supervision of licensed instructors) and testing. The program provides (200) additional hours of instruction in Skin Care, which includes Lash Extensions, Brow Tinting, and Waxing Services, and the addition of Gel Polish and Gel Nails to ensure the marketability of our students in the Beauty Industry and better prepare for entry level employment.

Program Objective
The objective is to prepare the student to qualify for state registration and to become a Licensed Skin Care and Nail Specialist and enter the field of beauty.
The grading scale for all academic work is as follows:
- 100-94% – Honor Roll
- 93 -89% – Above Average
- 88 -85% – Average
- 84% and Below – Unsatisfactory
